(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 16, 2019 ) Straight Up Films created the anthology Power/On consisting of five shorts focused on encouraging girls in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, and math with the arts thrown in). They were directed by actresses Nikki Reed, Rosario Dawson, Julie Bowen, Ana Brenda Conteras, and Lisa Edelstein. With support from YouTube, the shorts premiered April 24 at the Google campus in Playa Vista and became available for streaming on YouTube on April 26.

and women working together to inspire girls in computer sciences. It is a cinematic film series, directed by these five influential actresses, aimed to inspire young minds to change the world.
Reed’s film, entitled Andy’s Song, stars Bella Bracken as a young girl inspired to create a new technology that allows her best friend the ability to write music once again.
Also in the series is Contreras’ film Wingbeat which follows a teenage girl striving to keep the memory of her father alive the only way she knows how: by finishing the Virtual Reality world they were building together.
The final film, Girl Code, from director Julie Bowen, follows two girls who need their busy mom to shuttle them in opposite directions. A new technology comes to the rescue and ends up inspiring the girls to see coding and tech in a whole new light.
