OWN IT Summit Draws Over 500 Attendees

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 11, 2019 ) The OWN IT student-run female empowerment organization held its 2018 annual summit at the University of Southern Californias Bovard Auditorium. The event featured over 100 speakers, including Friends actress Lisa Kudrow and six-time Olympian medalist and Trojan alumna Rebecca Soni.

Throughout the summit, OWN ITs mission was to connect female students to the successful women they look up to, according to their website. The summit included three main panels as well as breakout sessions with smaller workshops for over

500 attendees.

The event began with a welcome address by President C. L. Max Nikias, and a speech by U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu, who represents Californias 27th District. Chu talked about her experience as the first Chinese American woman elected to the United States Congress, and the importance of strong mentors to her success.

One of the panels was Entertaining Change, which featured Kudrow, CBS Executive Tiffany Smith-Anoai and stand-up comedian and actress Yvonne Orji. The panel touched upon the #MeToo movement and its implications for future generations of women. Kudrow spoke about changing the worlds mindset on sexual harassment to one of positive growth rather than punishment.

The only thing that makes me nervous is if theres too much hatred and recrimination, Kudrow said. Because there are, I think, mostly decent men. They just need the cultural support to behave decently Its about encouragement instead of criminalization.

Another panel featured five female Olympians who graduated from USC, including volleyball players April Ross and Nicole Davis and swimmer Rebecca Soni. The panel was moderated by ESPN reporter and Annenberg adjunct professor Shelley Smith.

Step and Repeat LA printed an eye-catching 8 x 10 step and repeat backdrop for the stage of Amgens OWN IT 2018 Summit. It was perfect for the featured panels held throughout the day.

Delta Airlines Launched New Wardrobe Look in Los Angeles

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 04, 2019 ) For the first time since 2006, Delta rolled out a massive new upgrade to its uniforms for above-wing employees like pilots and flight attendants, and the first time since 2000, for below-wing employees like maintenance and baggage handlers. Launched last year, the new look makes Delta employees look “runway” ready.

This project and collaboration evolved over three years and I really think it was handled in an incredible way for a corporation, Posen told Travel + Leisure at the launch event in Los Angeles.

For

the past few years Posen shadowed dozens of Delta employees to learn every inch of the cabin and every detail of their duties from in-flight services to baggage handling so he could create a look and fabric that worked for their every need.

For Posen, the most surprising feedback from the crew and Delta executives was just how much they all wanted to stand out at airports around the globe. They wanted to create a unique look that didn’t look like other airlines, Posen said. And that started with a brand new color for the uniforms: Passport Plum.

Next, Posen and his team created 1,000 sample uniforms for crew members around the globe to test out. They provided the designer with feedback so he could create the final designs that you see today on every single Delta flight around the world.

Step and Repeat LA printed an 8 x 8 step and repeat backdrop for Deltas new wardrobe launch. Balloons were added for an extra splash of pizazz.

Step and Repeat LA is the leading backdrop company in the Los Angeles area, but their products are sought after around the country. They specialize in red-carpet backdrops, better known in the film and entertainment industry as ‘step and repeats’ and they provide media walls for a more dramatic effect. Step and repeats are used at fundraisers, grand openings, birthday parties, trade shows, and business events like the launch of Delta Airlines’ new uniforms.

“Welcome to Marwen” Premiere Held at ArcLight Hollywood

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 04, 2019 ) The star-studded cast of Welcome to Marwen including Steve Carell, Gwendoline Christie, Janelle Monae, and Leslie Mann were on hand for the December premiere of this inspirational story.

The movie tells the real-life story of Mark Hogancamp, a man who was attacked so violently that he loses all memory of his adult life. As a way to heal, he constructs an elaborate miniature Belgian town called Marwen. Populated by life-like dolls and action figures, he casts himself as a war hero.

At the film’s premiere, star

Steve Carell spoke about stepping into Hogancamp’s shoes for the role, which he took on after seeing Marwencol, a 2010 documentary on Hogancamp’s life. Carell met Hogancamp before portraying a version of him onscreen, saying he was “exactly what you’d hope he’d be. He’s kind and generous, he’s a special person. He literally healed himself, he turned something very ugly into something really beautiful.”

An app, which is available in the Apple App Store and on Google Play, lets fans review the scene in a 3D model of a town square created by the protagonist to heal and recover. It also and enables users to snap a photo inside Marwen to share as a digital postcard while perusing photo galleries, character bios and behind-the-scenes content.

Regarding releasing this film in the political and cultural climate of 2018, Carell said that the story reflects values that have always been important to him. “Themes of love and hope and acceptance and ignorance and redemption, all of those things are evergreen,” the star told The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet. “Beyond all of the themes that resonated, it’s really fun. It’s a fun, exciting, very different, quirky kind of movie.”

Step and Repeat LA printed and installed a stunningly vibrant 8 x 20 media wall for the premiere.
