In 1838, Sir Charles Wheatstone developed the first 3D viewing device called stereoscope by applying the principals of stereopsis. The stereoscope was a flat board fitted with mirrors and lenses and was enhanced by removing mirrors to make the view easier through lenses. This resulted in a device called lenticular scope, which was the first portable 3D viewing device.
